The ABCs of Medicare

(Skip this, if you prefer to leave all the jargon and fancy words to us.)

When you turn 65, you must enroll in Medicare,
the government insurance program for seniors citizens.
The 4 main parts of Medicare:
PART A
Inpatient
Hospital
Coverage
PART B
Outpatient
Hospital
Coverage
PART C

Advantage
Program
PART D
Prescription
Drug
Coverage
Optional
Covers:
  • Semi-private hospital room
  • Meals
  • Doctors and nurses fees
  • Skilled nursing facility post hospital stay
  • Hospice and blood transfusions
Optional
Covers:
  • Doctor visits
  • Lab work

  • Outpatient surgery
  • Ambulance rides
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Dialysis
  • Chemotherapy and radiation
Optional
This is not part of original Medicare.

Part C is essentially a private insurance, where an individual opts out of government-funded Medicare  and chooses to receive all Medicare Parts A and B services and sometimes Part D benefits from a private local network provider like an HMO or PPO.

Optional
Part D is administered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare to cover the cost of outpatient medications.

*This is not part of Original Medicare and is usually purchased with your Medicare Supplement Plan
Mind the gap
Step 1
.
You enroll in Medicare Parts A and B, also known as Original Medicare.
Yet, Uncle Sam only covers 80% of your medical needs.

. Step 2
.
You need to purchase a private plan to insure you for the 20% gap in Medicare coverage.
These supplemental plans, also known as Medigap plans, pay for the gaps in coverage of Parts A and B, as well as prescription drugs (Medicare Part D).
We help you select the coverage option that makes sense for you.
Every person has unique health needs, lifestyle preferences, and financial considerations.
We take all these factors into account when guiding you to the right Medigap plan.
There are 2 coverage options, and you’ll need
to select a carrier from one of these:
Medicare Supplement
+ Prescription Drug Plan
Covers the gaps of Medicare Parts A and B as well as prescription drugs (Medicare Part D).
Medicare
Advantage
Medicare Part C: A person opts to receive all Medicare coverage from a private provider.
Choosing the right coverage option requires expertise
You need to weigh the pros and cons with someone who deeply understands the options.
You have only one opportunity to enroll without answering any medical questions.
Although it’s possible to change your insurance, it’s much harder to do so later on.
Medicare is complex. Our process is simple.
65 and Ready has got you covered
All our services are always free of charge
Guiding you through the entire Medicare enrollment process
Helping you choose the right Medigap coverage for your needs
Answering all your questions in simple and straightforward language

Providing continued support for all Medicare questions that may arise
You have only one chance to enroll in a Medigap
supplemental plan with no questions asked.
Every senior has their own 6-month enrollment period:
6 months after their 65th birthday (or after their Medicare Part B takes effect).
During this window, any Medigap provider:

Can not ask you any medical or financial questions
Must accept you if you apply
Additionally,
3 months before and after the month you turn 65 (or begin Medicare Part B),
you have a 7-month window to enroll in a Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan
with guaranteed acceptance and no medical or financial questions.
Getting on a good plan now
covers you for many wonderful years.
Insurance changes can be made every year during the general open-enrollment period, from
October 15 until December 7 (or, in case of an error, from January 1- March 31)
And there are many cases where you might need to make a change.
However,
At that point, Medigap providers have the right to:
Inquire about your current medical and financial statuses
Impose higher plan prices
Apply insurance-related penalties
Deny coverage
Don’t resort to Plan B
Let’s help you choose the right plan
now to cover you best.
